Disassemble
Material needed: Hydraulic jack, jackstands, 7 mm hex head wrench, 1/4" Allen wrench, hammer, punch
Rate: 2 (0..10; 0=eyes closed 10= PITA²)
1) Loosen the front wheel nuts.
2) Jack-up the front axle and support it with 2 jackstands.
3) Remove the wheels.
4) Open the master cylinder reservoir and remove 2/3 of the brake fluid.
5) Push the piston in its bore with a litte prybar or screwdriver.
6) Removing the capiler.

For models before '82. Remove the capiler support screw (with a 1/4" Allen wrench). Use a hammer and a punch to drive the key out of the capiler.

For models '82 and later. Remove the two hex head mounting pins (with a 7mm hex head wrench).

7) Take the capiler of the anchor and put it away. Take care of the brake hose, if it's still connected.
8) Now it's time to remove the brake pads.

For models before '82. Remove the inner brake pad and then the outer one. Take notice of the location of the anti-rattle spring.

For models '82 and later. Begin with the outer one. Hold the bottom anti-rattle clip, and pull on the top of the brake pad. Do the same for the outer one.
9) Clean the sliding faces on the capiler and anchor. CAUTION: The dust can contain asbestos. Put a thin coat of high temperature grease on it.

Assemble
Material needed: Hydraulic jack, jackstands, 7 mm hex head wrench, 1/4" Allen wrench
Rate: 2 (0..10; 0=eyes closed 10= PITA²)
1) Install the brake pads.

For models before '82. Put the anti-rattle spring on the inner brake pad, so the loop end is facing away from the brake rotor. Place the brake pad and spring in the anchor plate. Take the outer pad and install it in the anchor plate.

For models '82 and later. Install the anti-rattle clip on the end of the anchor plate. The split end must be facing away from the brake rotor. Hold the clips while installing the inner pad. Take the outer pad and put in on the anchor plate. Bottom first, press on the clip with the pad. Push on the top clip and install the brake pad.

2) Still to come
